CORAL GABLES, FLORIDA – As the next step towards achieving it’s Advancing Excellence in Customer Service initiative, PA Group has appointed Dr. Eduardo Mora as Chief Underwriter and Medical Director for its Accident and Health division beginning July 18, 2016. Dr. Mora will report to PA Group’s Vice President of Administration, Sulma Torres, and will be based at the company’s global headquarters in Coral Gables, Florida. In this role, Dr. Mora will manage the underwriting and risk evaluation of all new individual and group policies, and will oversee pre-authorizations and negotiation of claims for both product lines, WEA and Premier Health.
Prior to joining PA Group, Dr. Mora held key leadership roles in companies like Bupa, Amedex, John Alden Life and USA Medical Services Corp., founding his own underwriting company, On the Right Thing, LLC., in 2009. His list of clients includes MetLife, Pan-American Life, National Western Life, Bupa, Colina, Manhattan Life, Delaware American, Hannover Re and Vumi.
“Dr. Mora has been part of PA Group as a consultant underwriter since March 2015. He has been instrumental in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures, providing continuous support and assistance to our administration team with patient management, quality assurance, and medical education. It is great to count with his leadership in these matters on a full-time basis,” commented Sulma Torres.
Dr. Eduardo Mora graduated with a medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico in 1984, and has been serving the U.S. Health Insurance industry as underwriter and medical consultant for the past 26 years. In addition, Dr. Mora is a member of prestigious organizations such as the Academy of Life Underwriters (ALU) and the Life Management Institute (LOMA), where he has obtained the highest professional designations FALU and FLMI respectively. He is also member of the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA), the Association of Home Office Underwriters, the Southeastern Home Office Underwriters Association and the International Underwriting Study Group, where he served as Chairman from 2012 to 2013.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Dr. Mora is an active member of South Florida’s community, and he is devoted to the holistic well being of all individuals. He collaborates with Shake-a-Leg Miami, a non-profit organization that helps children and adults with disabilities to improve their health, independence and self-esteem, through different marine outdoor programs, such as kayaking and sailing.
